WALLIS CORRICE
Hello! I am Wallis Corrice (online alias ‘WallisColours'), a trans Washington state-based artist in the Seattle metropolitan area.
Artwork
I specialize in digital art. I do landscapes, portraiture, and (prominently) scenes of LGBTQ life and positivity. I love emphasizing soft environments, as well as lush and vibrant colors that make scenery and the subjects pop out with warmth.
Comic Work
Based and heavily inspired by events in my life: ‘Henrietta Lamb’ is a giant passion project with metaphors for growing up autistic, queer, and as an outcast in a world that punishes you in every turn…and learning how to love and live again. ‘Henrietta Lamb’ has been drawn, written & uploaded solely by me since 2021.
About
Originally born in the DC area, I’ve grown up in multiple areas of the United States: Virginia, New York, Florida, Wisconsin and California, recently settling into Washington state. Growing up autistic, queer and feeling out of place in society in my childhood years, I’ve found refuge in art and have been expanding my artistic abilities ever since. As a result, many of my works, whether they are single art pieces or with comics: deal with embracing being different, whether you’re disabled or LGBTQ.I take a lot of inspiration from Russian and American art and cartoons, Don Bluth movies (like ‘The Secret of NIMH’), Japanese anime, and Art Nouveau- with the latter three especially being formative for my style. Vintage photography styles: Like Pictorialism and Autochrome also proved to be highly influential to me.
